The Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) announced that the healthcare information management service industry in the Philippines generated revenues amounting to US$1.9 Bn and employed 100,000 workers in 2015.
HIMAP is aiming to employ 210,000 by the year 2022 and attaining US$5 Bn in revenues by the said year according to HIMAP president Beng Coronel. “This is a conservative growth in revenue forecasted at 250 percent from $1.9 billion in 2015 and these figures were shown during last year’s conference,” she said.
The healthcare information management services sector has experienced strong growth since 2011 and has enabled the industry to employ more people.
Initially offering medical transcription services, the service providers have expanded their offerings to a more diversified selection such as medical coding, medical billing, outpatient care services, telemedicine, pharmaceutical and healthcare application support.
With the industry’s projected growth, more career opportunities will open to healthcare professionals and more will be needed in the future.
HIMAP is organized the Global Convergence Enabling Inclusive Care and Innovation seminar last Sept. 15, 2016.
The conference tackled stakeholder roles in healthcare and how some trends disrupt the growth and innovation in healthcare industry.
The conference featured presentations and briefings by industry and domain experts; panel discussions with top industry executives from around the region and with respected and influential resource persons.
Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Rodolofo Salalima was a keynote speaker.
