The Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) held its 38th Annual Convention at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong City from November 4 – 6, 2015. The convention also coincided with the 13th Asia Pacific Environmental and Occupational Dermatology Symposium (APEODS).

The convention had  57 speakers and resource persons that p[resented topics ranging from Patch Test Methodology and Assessment of Clinical Relevance to Sports Science and the Skin. Symposia and Industry sponsored discussions were also conducted.

Topics presented and discussed were the following:

An “Allergen Bank” – A Service for Dermatologists in Practice
Allergy to Gold and Other Metals
Hair Dye Allergy
“Filipino Brown Skin Phototesting to the Visible Light and the Infrared
UV Effects on the Skin
Contact Allergy in Atopic Dermatitis.

The convention spread of three days had 2 Symposia, these are:

Symposium 1 Contact Dermatitis which had the following topics:

1.    Occupational Contact Dermatitis in Germany
2.    Occupational Dermatitis in Healthcare Workers
3.    Contact Dermatitis from Lightening Agents

Symposium 2 Clinical Dermatology that had the following topics:

1.    Aupdates and Challenges in the Treatment of STIs
2.    HIV: Where are we now?
3.    Phototherapy and Biologics: Updates omn Combination Therapy

Exhibitors included MEDequip Inc. and Spectrumed

The convention concluded on November 6, 2015.
